Hey all,

I have just updated to the new PCT* Beta 4.2 and I am find PCT being stuck at the splash screen at the start asking me to "share the software". I have tried to reinstall, it worked... once. Then reverted back to the same old issue. I'd love to know if there is a fix for this or if I am doing something wrong.

I'm running Win 7 Home premium SP1.

*(Pop-Corn-Time, just shortened it to save time on typing he he.)

Thanks for reading, Happy Viewing !! :D

I have a similar problem. The old version worked just fine but since I've updated to the new version I'm stuck on the splashscreen. The UI does seem to load (If I click in the top right hand corner I can close the window) but all I see is the splash screen. I've tried to reinstall it and update my graphics drivers but so far nothing seems to work.

This is as far as it will load. Note the black bar appearing in the top left corner, that's the only visual change I get.

I'm running Windows Home Premium 64 bit and upon installing the 4.2 version I also had the same error as mentioned in this topic

Hmm.. strange John, I wouldn't think that the issue would lie with your graphics drivers ( unless you updated them too and they're possibly buggy too) and I do not have the black bar that you have. I can however resize the splash screen on PCT but that is as far as functionality goes for myself. I did notice however that when I ALT+F4 close the program it does remove the splash screen, but I think it leaves the process running in the background (PopcornTimeDesktop.exe). It could be a possible reason of the UI not loading as you had mentioned. I think this is more of an update fix in my opinion.

Updating the GFX driver was a long shot really after I tried reinstalling it a couple of times in various manners. I can resize the windows as well and when I hover the mouse over the top bar it does seem to respond to me clicking at various points but I cannot get the normal UI to appear. As you've said this is probably something that can only be fixed through an update so I will not mess with it any further. The problem only appears on my laptop and doesn't persist on my desktop PC which runs the 4.2 update without problems.

Through some lucky clicking I did manage to start a random movie though confirming that eventhough the UI doesn't appear it is loaded and functional.

Hi,
You can try this:
1. Go inside Internet Explorer’s Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings screen and uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings" ;
2. Restart program;

Other thing you can try:
- look at Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. I have there "Local Area Connection" and several others.
I disabled network adapters i not used to connect now (were vmware, and others), and it started to work

@ Mics,

I've tried that, however I think this is more towards the UI of PCT not loading. Again it'll be an update fix. Thanks for the help though :D

It might be getting blocked by your firewall.

Try add it to your trusted files list and see if that works.

Worked for me.
